The festival
The Barra do Piraí International Student Film Festival was created as an offshoot of the Light, Camera, Education! Project, the educational arm of the Barra do Piraí Audiovisual Center, in the interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Started in 2010, the Festival's mission is to expand the possibilities of expression of the children's universe, through images and stories.
Composed of three exhibitions: Local Competitive Exhibition, National Competitive Exhibition and International Exhibition, the Festival provides exchange between young directors from all over the world and promotes reflection on the content intended for them.
Through this project, the Barra do Piraí Audiovisual Center contributes greatly to the development of national cinema, as it builds an audience and reveals talent.
The Festival is affectionately considered the “Brazilian Student Oscar”.
